Here’s the scarf that I finished last week!  I’m so proud of myself because I actually finished a knitting project!  I must be on a roll, because I’m really putting my nose to the grindstone and getting stuff done!  Yay me!

 Anyway, this was knit using Noro Silk Garden Lite yarn (about 1 1/2 skeins).  I had started with another pattern, but 1) made a huge fuckup about 1/3 of the way into it and, 2) the pattern wasn’t really doing anything for me, so I’m really glad I switched.  I found this pattern at Knitty.com.

 I think it’s going to look really nice once the cool weather comes!  I have another ball left, so perhaps I’ll knit some fingerless mitts or something. 

I’m sorry, little blog, that I’ve been neglecting you.  I honestly have no idea where in the fuck the summer has gone! 

So, today I was involved in a discussion with two guys I work with regarding blogging.  (I say I was involved, but actually they were standing in front of my desk talking (annoying!) and I ended up getting roped in.)  Guy #1 is a decent enough fellow.  Kinda quirky, but generally o.k.  Guy #2 is a raging fucking lunatic.  I refer to him as the “serial killer/child molester”.  He creeps me out to no end and is one of those people who can’t take non-verbal cues that you don’t want to talk to him.

 Anyway, they were talking about the Internet, and Guy #2 starts going off about how horrible it is that “these young college kids” are out there on the web, sharing all their personal information.  Making themselves vulnerable to predators (and how would YOU know unless you were one yourself, you freak!).  I had to chime in that they were only at risk if they were putting ALL their personal info out there, and if you’re stupid enough to do that…well, I won’t say you deserve what you get, but perhaps you just need to learn to be safe.

Then he had to start in with “well, I don’t know why anyone NEEDS a blog anyway”.  I told him that even I have one (neglected, yes, but technically I do).  He asked me why I had one and I responded that sometimes it’s just nice to have a place to bitch about stuff.  I also pointed out that sometimes the Internet is a nice place to meet other like-minded people and feel like maybe you’re not so alone in the world.

He starts into this “but you’re NOT alone in the world” bullshit…which I know is going to degrade into some idiotic shit about always having Jeebus around or something.  So I nipped that portion of the convo in the bud.  I didn’t bother telling him that what I meant was that sometimes, when you have something weird going on with your life (strange smelling pee, weird hair growth, fucking annoying-ass coworkers…) that it’s nice to be able to go out and talk to other people who are experiencing the same thing.

Okay, enough with that rant.  Just felt good to get some feelings down about that weirdo.

Anyway, I’m going to try REALLY hard to get some more posts out here.  Not the best excuse, but I actually DID lose my password for a while.  I’d also like to do more posting about the knitting I’m working on and perhaps try to make this a more positive place.  Or not.  Because honestly, I still just really hate most people. 

I drank too much last night.  Now I’m sitting here at work and I think I’m still drunk…

Ventings of a demented wool hoarder…

 Okay, I just feel like I need to write down all of the negative shit that’s been happening to either me directly, or people I’m close to in the last couple weeks:

Neighbor’s car broken into (in her own driveway); Drug deal right in front of my house; Different neighbor’s house attempted to be broken into during broad daylight; Husband’s iPod stolen from his office; My coworker’s wallet stolen from MY office (thief walked right in in the middle of the fucking day!); Stupid seller on Etsy sold me something, took her time mailing it, and then neglected to tell me that she was out of one of the items and just put a note in the package!; USPS, in addition to raising rates, now apparently takes almost 2 weeks to send something first class from WI to VA; My freaked-out freak of a neighbor has been acting stranger than usual; I have a TON of shit to do and no time/motivation to do it.

I guess I could start a positive list, but it’s going to be short:

I’m leaving for Germany in 13 days; I just got a great haircut/colour; …

Wow, that was pretty pathetic!  I can’t even think of anything else that’s been going right! 

So I think I mentioned yesterday that I’m going to be doing some art/craft shows this summer.  So far I’m looking at the following (all in Wisconsin):

July 4, Art Fair in the Park, Monona, WI (accepted!!!)

July 15, South Shore Frolics Festival of the Arts, Bay View (Milwaukee area) (definite!)

July 28, 22nd Annual Waunafest Arts & Craft Fair, Waunakee (tentative)

August 11, Stroll in the Park, Edgerton (tentative)

August 28, 3rd Annual Art in the Park, Waunakee (need to send in application for this one)

I’m going to see how the first couple shows go before applying for many more.  Wouldn’t it be great if this took off and I could quit my stupid day job?!?

Oh yeah!  I forgot to mention that I’m going to Germany in 3 weeks!!!  I’m so excited!

The really cool part is that I get to travel ALONE on the way over there.  See, the dealio is that DH is going over for a conference a few days before me and then I’ll meet him there.  So I get to make airplane connections and buy train tix over there ALL BY MYSELF!

That probably sounds pretty lame, but I’m looking forward to the adventure.  I haven’t travelled alone in about 17 years and I kind of miss it (can you tell?). 

Anyway, I’m having fun getting stuff together for the trip and looking up places I want to go etc.  Oh yeah, and I get to spend most of a day by myself as well because I arrive about 5 hours before his conference lets out!  Yay!

Now I’ve just got to buckle down and get some shit made for all the art shows that will be looming after I return…

So I just found out that Interpol is playing in Milwaukee on July 30th.  This is so cool, but it also sucks for a couple of reasons:

1) It’s a Monday night and I HATE going to out of town shows on weeknights because I have to work (yes, I know, that makes me sound really old!)

2) I was trying really hard not to spend more money because we’re going on our trip in a few weeks. 

I guess I have a little time to think about it because the tix don’t go on sale until June 2.  Oh yeah, and the place their playing, The Rave, totally sucks as a venue.

 This weekend, while fun, wasn’t anywhere near as productive as I needed it to be.  I’m starting to worry that I’ve signed up for too many art fairs and that I won’t have enough merchandise.  Yikes!

Anyway, this cool, orange bag was made from some Obis (think Karate belts) that I got at my neighbor’s garage sale last year.  They are super neat and this bag is one-of-a-kind!

These are some bags that I’m making to sell at an art fair this summer.  They are also available for purchase in my Etsy store (see link to right).

 I like these totes.  The are colourful, reversible, and just the right size for taking to farmer’s markets or carrying a picinic lunch in!
